A ship found adrift. A vanished crew. No distress call. What really happened aboard the Mary celeste?

The Mystery That Still Haunts the Seas: An Akashic Records Reading on the Mary Celeste.

A ship found adrift; its crew vanished without a trace. No signs of struggle, no clear explanation. A maritime mystery that has puzzled historians, psychics, and investigators for over a century. What truly happened to the Mary Celeste?

In December 1872, the Mary Celeste was discovered drifting aimlessly in the Atlantic Ocean, her cargo untouched, provisions still stocked yet entirely deserted. The ship’s logbook offered no warnings, no distress calls had been sent, and aside from nine barrels of alcohol mysteriously found empty, everything remained eerily intact.

Theories have ranged from piracy, seaquakes, and mutiny to more bizarre speculations, paranormal interference, time slips, and inter-dimensional disappearances. Yet, despite the countless investigations, no definitive answer has ever been found.

But perhaps the mystery of the Mary Celeste began long before she ever set sail on that fateful voyage…

A Ship Cursed Before It Ever Left Port?

Before she became known as the Mary Celeste, this ill-fated vessel bore another name, Amazon.

Launched in 1861 from Nova Scotia, her early years were marked by ominous misfortune. Her first captain died suddenly on board, an unsettling beginning that cast a shadow over her future. Soon after, she collided with another vessel in the English Channel, damaging her hull and reinforcing whispers of a curse.

In 1868, she was sold to new American owners and renamed the Mary Celeste, in hopes that a fresh identity would break the cycle of bad luck. But fate had other plans. Was she doomed from the start? Did something unseen attach itself to the vessel long before her final voyage?

The Fateful Journey of 1872

On November 7, 1872, the Mary Celeste set sail from New York, bound for Genoa, Italy. At the helm was Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs, a deeply religious and well-respected mariner. He traveled with his wife, Sarah, their two-year-old daughter, Sophia, and a crew of seven.

Yet, just four weeks later, on December 5, the British brig Dei Gratia found the ship eerily abandoned near the Azores.

The crew was missing. The lifeboat was gone. There were no signs of violence or struggle, just an empty ship, sailing itself.

What happened in those missing days?

Mainstream Theories & Explanations

Despite centuries of speculation, no theory fully explains why the crew vanished so suddenly and without a trace.

Alcohol Vapor Explosion Hypothesis

The Mary Celeste carried 1,701 barrels of industrial alcohol, nine of which were found mysteriously empty. Some theorists suggest that fumes may have built up, leading the crew to believe an explosion was imminent, prompting a rushed evacuation. However, there were no scorch marks, no fire damage, and no sign of an actual explosion.

Waterspout or Seaquake

Some speculate that a freak natural disaster, a waterspout, rogue wave, or undersea tremor, caused the crew to think the ship was sinking. Yet, when the Mary Celeste was found, she was completely seaworthy, with food and cargo untouched.

Mutiny or Foul Play

Could a conflict have broken out? No evidence of a struggle, theft, or violence supports this theory. Captain Briggs was known for his fair leadership, making mutiny unlikely.

Paranormal & Unexplained Theories

Some believe the crew fell victim to a time slip, an inter-dimensional portal, or an unseen force, a theory strengthened by the ship’s long history of misfortune.

But what if the real answer lies beyond history, within the Akashic field?

Akashic Records Insights, The True Fate of the Mary Celeste

When I tune into the energy of the Mary Celeste, I see a sequence of events fuelled by mass hysteria, psychological distress, and unseen toxic exposure.

At the centre of this mystery is the ship’s cargo, nine barrels of industrial alcohol.

Captain Briggs, being responsible for the ship’s logs, spent more time near the cargo hold, ensuring the alcohol remained secured. Unbeknownst to him, toxic fumes had begun leaking from the barrels, filling the enclosed space.

The Captain Succumbs First

At first, his behavior changed subtly, decisions became slightly off, his words less rational. Then, his judgment became erratic, his moods unstable. His wife and crew noticed.

As the poisoning worsened, his mind fractured. He began to hallucinate. To the crew, it was as if their captain had been possessed by something unseen.

The Superstition & Fear Takes Hold

Some of the sailors were deeply religious and superstitious. Knowing that the ship’s first captain had also died, their minds spun stories of a dark force inhabiting the ship.

Then, Briggs threw himself overboard.

Driven by delusions and terror, he believed he was escaping an evil force. The crew, already beginning to feel the effects of the fumes themselves, panicked.

Mass Hysteria & The Fateful Decision

With their leader gone, their fear uncontrollable, they believed they had only one chance to escape the “curse.”

In their distorted, poisoned state, the crew rushed to the lifeboat, convinced they would die if they remained on board.

But in their frenzy and confusion, they had not thought it through.

The lifeboat was not strong enough to withstand the open sea.

For two days, they drifted, their bodies weakening from exhaustion, fear, and the lingering effects of the alcohol exposure.

Then, the boat began to take on water.

No one survived.

The Soul’s Purpose in This Mystery

At a soul level, what could possibly be the purpose of such an event?

The answer lies not just in the tragedy, but in the legacy left behind.

These souls collectively agreed to this moment before they incarnated. It was an exit point written in their soul contracts, not of suffering, but of mystery.

The Mary Celeste was destined to become one of history’s greatest unsolved enigmas. A story that would be studied, questioned, and woven into the fabric of human curiosity for centuries.

It serves as a reminder to the collective consciousness that there are still mysteries in this world, events we may never fully understand.

Some things are meant to remain unsolved. And in that, lies their purpose.

Final Thoughts

The Mary Celeste remains one of the greatest unsolved maritime mysteries, but through the Akashic Records, a new truth emerges — not of ghostly forces or unnatural disappearances, but of human psychology, unseen dangers, and the power of fear. This perspective offers a profound lesson on the vulnerabilities and strengths inherent in the human experience.
